Ductless Air Conditioning in Chicago

Are you interested in ductless air conditioning in Chicago? You might have overheard someone talking about a ductless or mini-split cooling system. These systems include indoor and outdoor components in their most basic form. These two components usually hook together via refrigerant tubing and electrical wiring. Typically, the indoor unit is on the wall, delivering heated or cooled air without ductwork.

This example would be called a single-zone system, focusing on one area in the home. Sometimes, there are homes that use multi-zone ductless systems, depending on their complexity. For example, some brands can give you a single outdoor unit to power up to five indoor models.

How Do Ductless Systems Work?

Ductless systems rely on the same principles to cool down the house as a traditional air conditioner. However, central air conditioning uses one centrally located indoor unit. Central AC units pump air through the house via a series of ducts and vents.

Ductless systems do not have to use a vent system, so they are more versatile. The indoor unit has an evaporator coil and blower fan, and the outdoor unit has a compressor, condenser coil, and fan. One part of the unit sits on the other side of the wall or the window. The interior part sits on the inside of this barrier, pumping air into the house.

It is not always convenient to install ductwork in a home, but ductless systems are reliable. Instead of replacing the ductwork in a home, consider going ductless.
